Dillon Jaxx
On April 10th Dillon Jaxx is reading their poetry alongside Jonathan Edwards as part of Kathryn Bevis’ launch for The Butterfly House,
A debut poetry collection that follows her pamphlet Flamingo, The Butterfly House, tells the story of a life before and after a late-stage cancer diagnosis. These poems examine experiences, terrible and sublime, as in her Forward Prize-shortlisted poem, ‘My Body Tells Me She’s Filing for Divorce’, contrasting the ghost-train of diagnosis, its spooks and cobwebs, with the enduring power of a life lived in gratitude for love. You can sign up to attend this free online event (with otterai captions) here: The Butterfly House event.
The Poetry School has a piece about Bevis’ experiences and her poetry too, if you would like to read more. If you enjoyed my last post Corporeality, Bevis’ work offers a poignant link. I’m looking forward to hearing Dillon read their work on Wednesday, and to reading and hearing more about The Butterfly House!
